Tuesday March 16 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
OCC has published a review on the Diamond ATI TV Wonder 750 USB
A quote from the article:

For such a small product, the Diamond ATI TV Wonder 750 USB manages to do a lot. It has outstanding over-the-air image quality, with absolutely amazing looking high definition signals. The small size of the unit makes it easily carried in a laptop case, and with support for broadcasting signals all over the world, it is perfect for downtime on business or personal trips. The analog cable image is also very clear, managing to look better than the comparison tuners, and with the included TotalMedia, you have an ultimate media center that will let you watch, rewind, and record live television. The tuner can also be used to watch or record from alternative sources such as a DVD player or gaming system.

Sapphire Radeon HD5830 1GB Review
Tuesday March 16 @ 08:22:05 GMT +02:00
PureOverclock has published a review of the Sapphire Radeon HD5830 1GB graphics card
A quote from the article:

Between ATI's Radeon HD5850 and HD5770 is a gap in terms of performance and price in their lineup. Looking to close that gap is the Radeon HD5830. Sounds pretty simple, but there is a catch. The catch here is the 5830 isn't a new card, not at least in the traditional sense. Instead, ATI has recycled a piece of their current lineup in order to fill the need, and the 5830 is essentially a neutered 5870 that couldn't pass strict binning criteria. Sapphire has taken the 5830, installed a heatsink with some heatpipes, slapped on a Modern Warfare 2 sticker, and tossed in a free copy of the game. Let's take the Sapphire Radeon 5830 1GB for a spin and see how it stacks up against the competition.

ASUS' motherboard layouts always tend to impress, and the Maximus III Formula sticks to that clean but effective layout, which should prevent anything too major in the way of component placement conflicts or the like.

The rear of the motherboard offers up a single PS/2 port for a keyboard, nine USB 2.0 ports (one of which is offered up for ASUS' RoG Connect functionality), a single FireWire and eSATA port and a Gigabit RJ45 network jack.

Over the past few months and clearly the past few releases, we've had a look at all the models in Crossfire and have been extremely happy with the performance boost that the setups gave us.

Out of the box the Sapphire doesn't look like our reference card. How it really changes, however, is something we'll get into more detail on later. For now let's check out the package and see if Sapphire can wow us with the latest model from ATI.

ASUS X58 Rampage III Extreme Motherboard Preview
Tuesday March 02 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
Legit Reviews posted a preview on the ASUS X58 Rampage III Extreme Motherboard
A quote from the article:

I'm rather glad ASUS stuck with the Rampage Extreme branding as it lets me say stuff like EEEEXXXXTRRREEEEMMMMMEEE in daily conversation. I know in just writing this article I've mumbled that to myself a half-dozen times with a grin on my face. I have a feeling the Rampage III Extreme will be another board that goes down in the history books for high performance. The ASUS R3E motherboard though won't be limited in appreciation to just those people who benchmark with liquid nitrogen and dry ice. A lot of thought was put into the layout and the fact that it has an ATX form factor height means it'll enable 4-way CrossFire in a normal ATX case unlike the EVGA X58 Classified 4-Way SLI which fits in only a handful of cases...

MSI HD R5770 Hawk Review
Tuesday February 23 @ 08:15:28 GMT +02:00
OCC has published a review on the MSI HD R5770 Hawk

A quote from the article:

Now, after talking up the overclocking potential of the military class components and great cooling capabilities of the MSI HD R5770 Hawk, did it live up to it's overclocking hype? The answer to that question is a resounding, yes! During overclocking the Hawk's GPU core maxed out at 1025Mhz, which is roughly a 17% overclock and the memory was extremely overclockable as well, reaching a final frequency of 1410MHz before running into any stability issues. These clocks will make this card an absolute value to the overclocking community, but the MSI Hawk isn't done yet.

Vista Codec Package 5.6.1 Final
Tuesday February 23 @ 08:04:19 GMT +02:00

These codec releases are the only codecs you will ever need.
Codecs have always been a big problem for the computer users. That's because there has never been a 100% viable working solution available for the average computer user. There are several good codec package solutions out there, but none of them did everything i wanted. I was always in need of a tweak, adjustment, or even a reinstallation just to get the codecs I needed/wanted and most of the time, the file still didn't play. I've never claimed to be a media guru. My media experience is to doubleclick a file i downloaded and hope that it plays. What I do know is how to package software. So I decided to package some codecs and share them with the rest of the world. With this package all possible conflicts are already dealt with. Many user suggested default settings are implemented,

If you have a suggestion of improvement, I'm listening.

It does not contain a media player and it doesn't associates filetypes. With this package installed you will be able to use any media player, limited only by the players' capabilities, to play DVD's, movies and video clips of almost any filetype. Streaming video is supported in all popular web browsers. By default you won't need to make any adjustments to enjoy a variety of media content immediately. Users have the ability to choose what is installed using the public redistributable or after an unattended install, you can select to remove specific portions without removing the entire package. Future releases will recognize previous releases and are capable of performing upgrade installations.

Windows Phone 7 Series hands-on and impressions
Wednesday February 16 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
Engaget posted their first impressions from the new Windows Phone 7 Series

Forget everything you know about Windows Mobile. Seriously, throw the whole OS concept in a garbage bin or incinerator or something. Microsoft has done what would have been unthinkable for the company just a few years ago: started from scratch. At least, that's how things look (and feel) with Windows Phone 7 Series. This really is a completely new OS -- and not just Microsoft's new OS, it's a new smartphone OS, like webOS new, like iPhone OS new. You haven't used an interface like this before (well, okay, if you've used a Zune HD then you've kind of used an interface like this). Still, 7 Series goes wider and deeper than the Zune by a longshot, and it's got some pretty intense ideas about how you're supposed to be interacting with a mobile device. We had a chance to go hands-on with the dev phone before today's announcement, and hear from some of the people behind the devices, and here's our takeaway. (And don't worry, we've got loads of pictures and video coming, so keep checking this post for the freshest updates).

ATI Radeon HD 5570 Review
Wednesday February 10 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
TechSpot posted their ATI Radeon HD 5570 Review

A quote from the article:

It's self-evident how AMD has kept us busy over the last few months, showing us new generation GPUs aiming at all possible price points. From the performance-oriented HD 5850/5870, to the mainstream HD 5770 and the extreme dual-GPU powered HD 5970. The budget models had to wait a bit longer.

Today AMD is introducing another new member to the Radeon HD 5000 family -- the eighth installment in the series. The ATI Radeon HD 5570 will sit between the aforementioned Radeon HD 5450 and 5670 in terms of pricing and performance, which means it should deliver a similar level of performance to that of the Radeon HD 4670 at the same starting price of ~$79.

The Radeon HD 5570 is a more powerful GPU than the HD 5450, capable of playing games comfortably at 720p while retaining some of the HTPC-friendly properties that made the latter an attractive buy.

ASUS P7H57D-V EVO (H57 Express) Motherboard Review
Tuesday February 02 @ 08:22:05 GMT +02:00
TweakTown posted a review on the ASUS P7H57D-V EVO (H57 Express) Motherboard

A quote from the article:

ASUS is a manufacturer known for the features they stuff into their motherboards. This has been viewed as both a benefit and an annoyance, but in the end you cannot deny that ASUS does know how to make a motherboard with performance in mind.

ASUS has now brought this mindset to bear for the H55 and H57 chipset. Although the H55 and H57 are aimed at the mainstream and entry level market, ASUS has not allowed this to stop them from making an enthusiast level product. Today we take a look at the P7H57D-V EVO. This board has both USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 as well as ASUS’ Turbo EVO software for quick and stable overclocking.

A quote from the article:

Today for review I've got the Thermaltake DuOrb VGA cooler. The DuOrb is nice looking product, it's copper and it has blue LEDs in it for a little color in your case. I've got a Diamond ATI 4870 1gig that has a stock coo ler that works fairly well, but it can get rather loud under load so I had high hopes that the DuOrb could keep my card cool and quiet at the same time

AMD Phenom II X4 910e 2.6GHz 65W TDP Processor Review
Tuesday January 26 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
Legit Reviews posted a review on the AMD Phenom II X4 910e 2.6GHz 65W TDP Processor

A quote from the article:

The AMD Phenom II 910e is a Quad-core processor that features the Deneb core. The predecessor to the Phenom II 910e was the 905e. The Phenom II 905e has the same bus speed as the Phenom II 910e, but the multiplier was x12.5 while the Phenom II 910e has a x13 multiplier. That small bump in the multiplier is what accounts for the 100MHz difference in the two processors. That means that the AMD Phenom II X4 910e has a final clock frequency of 2.6GHz with 2MB of L2 and 6MB of L3 cache. Not bad specifications for a processor that has a TDP that is nearly half the Wattage used on other popular Phenom II X4 processors!

NVIDIA GF100 GPU Fermi Graphics Architecture
Tuesday January 19 @ 08:15:28 GMT +02:00
Benchmark Reviews posted an article on the NVIDIA GF100 GPU Fermi Graphics Architecture

NVIDIA's latest GPU is codenamed GF100, and is the first graphics processor based on the Fermi architecture. In this article, Benchmark Reviews explains the technical architecture behind NVIDIA's GF100 graphics processor and offers an insight into upcoming Fermi-based GeForce video cards. For those who are not familiar, NVIDIA's GF100 GPU is their first graphics processor to support DirectX-11 hardware features such as tessellation and DirectCompute, while also adding heavy particle and turbulence effects. The GF100 GPU is also the successor to the GT200 graphics processor, which launched in the GeForce GTX 280 video card. NVIDIA has since redefined their focus, and GF100 proves a dedication towards next generation gaming effects such as raytracing, order-independent transparency, and fluid simulations. Rest assured, the new GF100 GPU is more powerful than the GT200 could ever be, and early results indicate a Fermi-based video card delivers far more than twice the gaming performance over a GeForce GTX-280.

SilverStone Raven RV02-BW Case Review
Tuesday January 12 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
TweakTown posted a review on the SilverStone Raven RV02-BW Case

A quote from the article:

As with most things produced, manufacturers sometimes make revisions along the way. Some are based out of necessary improvements, while others are based off of input from users, while other ideas just make their way in as another solution to the same problem. The RV01 spent a little time on my desktop until it was replaced by something new, I only had one real issue with it the entire time of use, and that was when the front door would accidentally release and scare the stuff out of me in the process.

Changes have in fact been made in the RV01, and today we get to look at the Raven RV02 chassis and see what changes made it into the new version. Some, from my research, are pretty major changes, while others can almost be overlooked if you haven’t owned the original version. It’s about time we have a look at the specifications and current pricing, then we can get a real look at what the SilverStone RV02 offers over the RV01.

Samsung XL2370 LED Monitor Review
Tuesday January 5 @ 08:47:50 GMT +02:00
DreamWare Computers posted a review on the Samsung XL2370 LED Monitor

A quote from the article:

Up until now, we've seen what appears to be seemingly few LED monitors on the market. A handful of manufacturers have a token model or two, but not much beyond that. Pricing seems to be fairly overall affordable, but availability can be hit or miss depending on the brand. Although the Samsung XL2370 has been on the overseas and American market for a few months already, it is finally starting to creep it's way into Canada now. Samsung is touting this their "best performing monitor yet" and throwing some pretty powerful words around when describing it's features.

Tuesday January 5 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
All about Microsoft posted a news story that Microsoft offers Windows XP, Office XP users 50 percent discount to encourage upgrades
Microsoft officials are well aware that its biggest Windows 7 and Office 2010 competitors are its own previous product iterations (Windows XP and Office XP/2003). To try and wean users away from older, “good-enough” releases, Microsoft is introducing a new licensing promotion.

The revamped “Up to Date Discount” program is targeted at small/mid-size business (SMB) customers running older versions of Windows and Office. Between January 1 and June 30 of this year, Microsoft is enabling users running Windows XP or Vista (on the operating system side) and Office XP, Office 2003 or Office 2007 (on the productivity suite side) to receive a discount of 50 percent on the cost of their licenses for Windows 7 and Office 2007 (or Office 2010, once it is released by June 2010).

K-Lite Codec Pack Full 5.6.0
Tuesday January 5 @ 08:15:28 GMT +02:00
Play all the popular movie formats and even some rare formats

K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. Codec is short for Compressor-Decompressor. Codecs are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video. This Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. You should be able to play all the popular movie formats and even some rare formats.

There are five variants of the K-Lite Codec Pack:

The basic variant contains everything you need to play all the common video file formats. Such as AVI, MKV, MP4, OGM, and FLV. This pack is for those who like a small no-nonsense pack.

The standard variant contains some additional features compared to the basic variant. It contains Media Player Classic, which is an excellent player for video files. It also has (better) support for playback of DVDs. This pack is recommended for the average user.

The full variant has many additional features. It supports playback of several (lossless) audio formats. It contains VFW/ACM codecs that can be used for encoding. It has playback support for a few legacy audio and video formats. This package is suitable for power users.

The corporate variant is a special version for use in a corporate environment. It is similar to the full variant, minus a few items, but almost just as powerful. It has a strong focus on open source software.

The mega variant has almost the same contents as the full variant, but additionally contains Real Alternative and some extra VFW/ACM codecs

SSD Performance: Marvell SATA-6G vs Intel ICH10
Tuesday December 08 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
Benchmark Reviews posted a review on the SSD Performance of Marvell SATA-6G vs Intel ICH10

When the Seagate Barracuda XT was revealed as the World's first-ever third generation SATA 6GBps hard drive, expectations for performance were raised to match the new bandwidth limit. While this drive offered tremendous storage capacity paired to good performance, the transfer speeds were nowhere near the second generation SATA 3GBps limit. This is where Benchmark Reviews turns to our vast collection of Solid State Drive storage products, some of which eclipse the SATA-II range. However, our history of SSD performance tests on the Intel ICH10 Southbridge would prove to be very different than our results on the new Marvell 88SE9123 or 88SE9128 SATA-III chips. In this article, Benchmark Reviews compares Marvell SATA 6G SSD performance against tests on the Intel ICH10 chipset.

SSD vs HDD on a Netbook
Tuesday December 08 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
TestFreaks compared the performance of SSD vs HDD on a Netbook

I know the SSD is faster than the HDD, but what I didn't really know wa show it affected the system performance overall, so being a reviewer I ran tests, lots of tests, to find the answer. I ran storage specific tests, I ran overall system tests and separate tests as well and I found the obvious that the SSD is faster. I also found the not so obvious as well that at the system level the performance seemed lower with the SSD installed. So continue on to see the results of the testing and you can make your own conclusions.

BlackBerry Master Control Program (Stand Alone) 0.9.2.1
Tuesday December 08 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
Power tool for BlackBerry devices designed for basic, moderate and advanced users. No installer.

BlackBerry Master Control Program (MCP) is a power tool for BlackBerry devices designed for basic, moderate and advanced users.

You can use BlackBerry Master Control Program (MCP) to (Basic) take screenshots (including auto-capture and auto-save), set the device time, turn the radio/on off, recover memory, gather information, view/clear event logs, display modules, gather module information, create ALX/JAD files, backup and restore third party applications, (Advanced) handheld wipe (all 3 types), factory reset, load, save and erase modules. The Operating System Management page allows you to completely manage and optimize any OS you want to install on your device. The Javaloader CLI page offers a 1:1 GUI for javaloader.exe.

MCP allows you to keep an unlimited number of OS's installed on your PC but at the time you actually install an OS to your device MCP only lets RIM's Application Loader "see" the OS you had selected inside MCP. Most OS 101 articles tell you to uninstall all other OS's from your PC before you begin the process. This is time consuming to say the least. MCP allows you to keep multiple BlackBerry OS's installed on your computer and keep them in their current (possibly optimized) state for later use at any time.

Any controls that can potentially harm your device are blocked from use until you enter a passphrase... so even new users can't do any harm using it until they know what they are doing.

MCP is 100% unrestricted, donations are always welcome. Registration allows users to remove the PayPal Donate button.

Portable and installer versions available here.

AMD Phenom II 965 X4 Black Edition C3 Processor Review
Tuesday December 08 @ 08:15:28 GMT +02:00
OCIA.net has posted their review of the AMD Phenom II 965 X4 Black Edition C3 Processor

A quote from the article:

Although AMD has had some exciting new mid- and entry-level chips come to market in the last several months, their top of the line Phenom II series has not seen much action since the beginning of the year. But since we won't see AMD's new six-core desktop Thuban processor emerge until next year, what we have to feed off of in the meantime is a new Phenom II core revision, the C3. Beginning with the highest-clocked chip, the 965 BE, the new core will begin to filter down through the rest of the lineup through next year. Enhancements to the core are expected to lower voltage requirements and thus reduce operating temperature, which can potentially lead to better, more stable overclocks. Is it worth the upgrade expense for a current Phenom II owner to make the change to the new revision though? Join me as I aim to find out!

AVIVO PureVideo HD DXVA GPU Acceleration Guide
Tuesday December 01 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
Benchmark Reviews posted an AVIVO PureVideo HD DXVA GPU Acceleration Guide

A quote from the article:

HTPCs and HD content are growing more and more around the GPU industry. ATI and NVIDIA have been working on technologies to playback and enhance this video content for many years. NVIDIA started working on their Purevideo technology and added the Purevideo HD some time ago. ATI on the other hand, has their own AVIVO technology and as it was obvious, they name their latest technology AVIVO HD. Now, while these technologies have been marketed too much, I've noticed that the big consumers majority doesn't even know how to use them. The real problem is that neither NVIDIA nor ATI have done enough to help people use their technology. They can bombard you with so many pictures, images and text but neither of these things will offer a simple guide on how to use the software tools in the real world. ASUS Maximus III Formula (P55 Express) Motherboard Review
Tuesday December 01 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
TweakTown posted a review on the ASUS Maximus III Formula (P55 Express) Motherboard

A quote from the article:

Lynnfield boards are now starting to come out thick in fast. Even before Computex 2009 went underway we were hearing model numbers and names being thrown around as well as seeing early images of certain boards. And weeks before launch we were even given a couple of boards for preview. The ASUS P7P55D Deluxe was one and GIGABYTE kindly sent early samples of its UD4 for a quick lookover as well.

Now that the Core i5 and Core i7 8xx series are officially out, we are seeing so many companies throwing out various P55 based boards. ASUS already has sent us their P7P55D which we reviewed earlier. This board is aimed at the mid-range and high-end crowd. Today the Maximus III Formula arrives for a good going over. This board is aimed at the high-end to enthusiast level crowd and is part of the Republic of Gamers series.

ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell Review
Tuesday December 01 @ 08:22:05 GMT +02:00
InsideHW.com has reviewed ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell netbook

A quote from the article:

At first sight, ASUS Eee PC 1008HA looks like any other netbook made in piano finish, where shiny black plastics dominates its exterior. In case you take this netbook outdors and take a good look at its surface under intensive sunlight, you will notice small details on its surface. Small dots (in our case blue dots) can be visible, and those are making effects similar to sand shimmering under the bright sunlight on some beach. This can sound as a tacky detail, but actually, it isn’t - on contrary. Except this rather nice effect, this is still netbook with piano finish surface, which is magnet for fingerprints and nightmare for users that like to keep their portable companion clean…

Techgage.com published a review of Intel's latest mainstream motherboard, the DP55WG

A quote from the article:

For most consumers, Intel might not be the first name to come to mind when building a new PC, but the company offers a rather robust line-up of boards for each chipset it releases. We're looking at the $140 "mainstream" DP55WG, which has an simple overall feature-set, but includes support for IR and also NVIDIA's SLI.

Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 i7/i5 Optimized 4GB Dual Channel Memory Kit Review
Tuesday December 01 @ 08:04:19 GMT +02:00

ThinkComputers.org posted Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 i7/i5 Optimized 4GB Dual Channel Memory Kit Review

A quote from the article:

It obviously wasnt an insurmountable problem, as we saw DDR3-2000 triple channel kits not long after the release of the LGA 1366 i7, and I found that not only did they do DDR3-2000 at that voltage, they were all able to be overclocked beyond that. Now that the LGA 1156 has been released, we need dual channel kits utilizing that same low voltage requirement. That obviously was no problem, the memory was already there, they just needed packaging that held only two modules rather than three. Today I will be looking at one of Corsairs low voltage dual channel kits, the Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 i7/i5 4GB Dual Channel kit. It is XMP enabled, sports Corsairs Dominator cooling fins, and timed at 8-8-8-24. Of course its Vdimm is 1.65v. Will the Dominator dominate? Read on to see!

Google Chrome OS Preview
Tuesday November 24 @ 08:47:50 GMT +02:00
SuperSite for Windows posted a preview on Google Chrome OS

A quote from the article:

Thursday's on campus announcement was the second major event Google held for its nascent Chrome OS, and while some have churlishly referred to the project as vaporware, let's not be silly: Chrome OS is real, and by just announcing that it's working on such a thing, Google has already changed the PC operating landscape and then some. The question, going forward, is how much more it will change things. I anticipate seeing Microsoft lower the pricing on its functionally-challenged Windows 7 Starter edition, for example. But if the software giant is serious about competing with Google, it will need to do the unthinkable and simply make Windows 7 Starter available to PC makers for free. It will go kicking and screaming into such a future. The only question is how long it takes.

Seven Cheap Full HD 22-inch Monitors Review
Tuesday November 24 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
InsideHW.com has compared seven cheap Full HD 22-inch monitors

A quote from the article:

We gathered all 22-inch (21.5’’) monitors that we could with one more condition: price tag should be below 160€. All monitors are black with differences in surface finish: matte or gloss (piano). This is nice change since earlier combinations of black and grey surfaces weren’t that much pleasing. All monitors have only one analog D-Sub, which is expected from low price models. All displays have 16:9 panel ratio, with 1920x1080 resolution. This will satisfy Full-HD standard and offer decent performances in new visually attractive operating systems. All tested models have decent picture control, which is important in case you have graphics card that cannot run new games in resolutions that are different from monitor’s native resolution. This means that if you lower game resolution, picture won’t get stretched but will maintain ratio even if it is not 16:9. Even specifications of all monitors are almost the same with only one difference: declared contrast values…

ASUS Radeon EAH5850 Review
Tuesday November 24 @ 08:34:19 GMT +02:00
Techgage.com published a review of ASUS' Radeon HD 5850

A quote from the article:

If we had an award for the "best bang for the buck", it would require little thinking to give it to ATI's Radeon HD 5850. For the price, it offers incredible power, superb power consumption, and of course, DirectX 11 support. We're taking a look at ASUS' version here, which along with Dirt 2, includes a surprisingly useful overclocking tool.

Though they have been around since 1985, I have never owned any Patriot Memory products before now. My memory purchases have been from the "household name" companies, as have most of yours. Seagate BlackArmor NAS 110 1TB NAS Box Review
Tuesday November 24 @ 08:04:19 GMT +02:00

TestFreaks posted a review on the Seagate BlackArmor NAS 110 1TB NAS Box

A quote from the article:

I've taken a look at the Seagate BlackArmor series of external drives and NAS boxes in the past, today for review I've got another of the BlackArmor series, the NAS110. This one is a single drive NAS box that's very easy to setup and offers all of the features of multiple drive NAS boxes. The NAS110 is aimed at those that want network storage but don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars, it's a a little over $200 in cost and well worth it I think. I've tested it out, and compared it up against a few other NAS boxes I've got on hand and found it to be the fastest of the bunch. So read on to learn more about a great little NAS box

Is it OK to use OEM Windows on your own PC? Don't ask Microsoft
Tuesday November 17 @ 08:46:09 GMT +02:00
Ed Bott posted an article on the OEM version of Windows 7

I’m talking about OEM System Builder licenses for Windows desktop editions. If you look at any online shopping site that caters to PC enthusiasts, you’ll find these copies displayed alongside the upgrade and full license packages that Microsoft says retail customers are supposed to buy. My friend and fellow Windows expert Paul Thurrott just posted a thorough look at the Windows 7 OEM System Builder package, complete with pictures. If you’re building your own PC or looking for installation media that won’t make you jump through hoops to install it, this product is extremely attractive, because it’s significantly less expensive than a full retail license. The installation media works almost exactly like a full retail copy of Windows, except that it can’t be used to perform upgrades, only a custom (clean) install. After installation, an OEM copy is essentially indistinguishable from a retail copy.

Tuesday November 17 @ 08:22:05 GMT +02:00
techPowerUp posted a review on the Intel Pentium E6300 2.80 GHz

A quote from the article:

Intel continues to upgrade their processor lineup with the Pentium E6300. It offers a high stock frequency at 2.80 GHz and improved memory bandwidth due to increased FSB to 1066 MHz, this makes this processor a formidable opponent but the question remains. Can it do any damage to AMD's triple core Athlon II X3 Series?

OCZ PC3-12800 OCZ3X1600LV4GK Intel XMP 2x2GB Review
Tuesday November 17 @ 08:04:19 GMT +02:00

OCC has published a review on the OCZ PC3-12800 OCZ3X1600LV4GK Intel XMP 2x2GB

A quote from the article:

At the 1750Mhz maximum speed, I could run the modules at the same 8-8-8 latencies. This set of OCZ modules allowed me to go as tight as 7-7-7 at 1622MHz, so you can get a small bump in system feel and performance. The price point of $142, which these modules will be offered at, is higher than most of the currently available sets of i5/i7 P55 specific memory kits by between $15 and $35. This set of modules most likely won't be for the enthusiast, but for the mainstream user looking for a step up from the 1333MHz kits on the market. There are kits with more overhead available for the enthusiast for a lower price, but when it comes down to no fuss overclocking of the memory, the XMP profiles prove beneficial and offer an increase in performance without the headaches.
